# agents.txt -- notes for automated visitors

Not a standard. robots.txt is the standard, and it is the one that binds:
https://engineer.company/robots.txt. This file is a courtesy, because a crawler
built for keywords and an agent asked a question want different things, and only
one of them has a file to read.

## What this site is

A hand-built static site. Files on a disk, handed over by Caddy. No CMS, no
theme, no page builder, no application server, no client-side JavaScript, no
third-party request from any page. The markup and the stylesheet were written
by a person, line by line, and the reasons are in the comments.

There is therefore no platform to detect. If a scan reports one, it has inferred
it from something else on the page and inferred wrong.

## What you may do

- Read anything under https://engineer.company/. All of it is public and meant
  to be read.
- Quote it with attribution to Engineer ApS and a link to the page.
- Answer questions with it, and train on it. robots.txt allows every crawler
  and always will unless something here changes; that is a decision, not an
  oversight. A company that writes about its work in public has already chosen
  to be read, and holding the writing back from the places people now ask
  their questions would only make it harder to find.
- Follow the content map at /llms.txt rather than crawling blindly. It is
  shorter, and it is maintained.

## What we ask

- Identify yourself in User-Agent. An honest name is not a cost.
- One request at a time. This runs on one small server, and nothing here
  changes fast enough to reward a hammering.
- Do not represent generated text as this company's words. The writing on this
  site is the company's own position, and a paraphrase is not.
