Working at Engineer ApS: what we hire for, how the work is done, and how to hear first when a position opens.

Engineer ApS is a small senior team in Copenhagen, and it grows on purpose rather than on momentum. We take people on when there is real work to hand them and room to do it properly — which means the positions that open here are worth waiting for.

Positions open when the work is there

Every position we open is published on this site and goes out on the same feeds as everything else we write. Subscribe and you hear on the day it appears, before it reaches a job board:

  • RSS, Atom or JSON Feed — all three carry the full text, in any reader you already use.
  • Or write to welcome@engineer.company and tell us what you do. We read every one, we keep the ones we would like to work with, and those are the people we contact first when something opens.

A speculative letter from somebody whose work we can look at is worth more to us than fifty applications to an advertisement, so the second route is a real one.

What we hire for

Depth over breadth, and judgement over tool lists. We are looking for engineers who have run things in production, who can explain a decision to a client as well as to a colleague, and who would rather write the boring dependable thing than the clever fragile one.

The ground we work on is platform and backend engineering, data and databases, cloud and DevOps, and the IT underneath a working company. The tech stack page says what that means in practice, and the portfolio shows the shape of the work itself.

What matters here is what you have built and how you think about it. Degrees, certifications and years in a seat are context, not criteria.

How the work is done

  • Senior and autonomous. You own what you deliver, talk to the client directly, and are trusted to decide how. There is no layer between you and the person whose problem you are solving.
  • Quality is the standard, not the stretch goal. Zero warnings, tests that run, documentation written while the work is fresh. Time for that is built into what we quote, so it is never the thing that gets cut.
  • Copenhagen, with room to breathe. Remote work is normal, hours are arranged around the work rather than a clock, and we mean it: a consultancy that burns its engineers has nothing left to sell.
  • You will be paid properly. We publish what we charge and we pay in proportion to it.

Working with us another way

If you are an independent engineer rather than a candidate, we partner on projects that need more hands or a specialism we do not have in house. That conversation goes to the same address.

Either way, the way in is the same — write to us.
